The walks I take
In the evenings, cold and dreary
With the sun setting on the horizon
I’m uncertain where I want to go

The mornings I spend
Wishing this and that
Unhappy with what I have
I’m uncertain about what I want

The notes I make
Sitting on the porch
Writing and striking words
I’m uncertain what they mean

The many people I meet
The faces I smile at
The moment they leave
I’m uncertain if I know them

The nights I spend
Lying awake, eyes wide open
Brooding over hopeless desires
I’m uncertain why I’m holding onto them

What is my heart waiting for?
Why isn’t it at ease?
Who is it looking for?
And all it says is – Past

I want to move on
And not agonize over it
But the heart doesn’t.
It wants to keep the memories
Close and safe.

‘That’s all I have’, I hear it say.
Swear, I feel the same
But do I want to say it out loud?
I’m uncertain.

  1. Uncertainty is a bane in life my dear but I think that makes writing better, that feeling of insecurity fuels the thoughts and feelings and pushes us to greater heights. It may be difficult but it should be appreciated for what it is, yet another valuable source of inspiration.

    1. Why is it that I always seem to miss your comments and find them very very late? Phew!
Anyway. I’ve much enjoyed reading all your comments that I have replied to today. How are you, my dear friend?

      1. You are awesome my friend and I am glad you found my words eventually, I try not to hide my words too well hehe.

Today I have been reading in honour of you, as you do encourage me and now I even carry a whole backpack of books everywhere with me just like you. What are you reading at the moment?

        1. Not good at something? You can’t be! Im truly honored to have you read with thoughts of me. I’m reading King’s collection of short stories as also planning to do more blog posts from now on. I’ve changed the display feature for posts. Now it shows up with a feature image which I totally love. What do you think?

  2. I liked it because I saw my thoughts from some time ago, put so eloquently. It was something that I could not do. Whatever the bad phase you were going through I hope it is over.

    1. You may say so. Manu. But quite honestly, I did not like this piece much. I was going through a bad phase when I’d written this about a year ago. Found it yesterday. Didn’t revise. Just published.
