at every corner
of every street
there are leftovers
of sweet memories
I reach out
scoop some
in my palms
they slip from
between my fingers
stare at me long
a quick walk down
the lane left behind
rolling happily
in the sands of time
soon winds of past
blow them all away
I run after them
like a child at play

  1. The memories of time and place that can be conjured by a scent or something familiar can be a joyous – although not always – thing. Such things make us feel young again, a different world to our adult lives.

    1. And when those lost worlds are conjured again, you either wish to be a part of them or choose to leave them behind, not that you have much of a choice if you want to forget about them altogether.

“I love writing. I love the swirl and swing of words as they tangle with human emotions.” ― James A. Michener
