I like authors who lay emphasis on the importance of reading. Stephen King said the first thing he ever did was put out the television and get to the book. Ernest Hemingway was always reading. He would read almost everything he could lay his hands on. J K Rowling never read a book that didn’t have something to learn from.
All the greatest writing minds believed that reading did more good to their writing game than anything else did. William Faulkner shared an interesting thought.
I believe that one has got to be a terrific reader to be a terrific writer. The passion to read anything and everything must come naturally to a writer and there’s nothing you read that doesn’t help the writing process.
What do you think? How important is reading for one’s writing? Do share your thoughts below.
Happy reading till we meet next.
Until then, carpe diem! 🙂
